William Crutchfield (1683-1759) was born in Gloucester County. He is bel ieved to have married m. (1) Eleanor ______ and (2) a widow, Jane Staplet on Norman (c. 1715 - ?). He perhaps married a third time as his Caroline C ounty will named as executrix Rachel Crutchfield. Other researchers have p rovided a list of his children: William, John, Richard, Edmund, Stapleto n, Mary, Henry, Jane, James, Margaret, George and Thomas.

William Crutchfield birth recorded in Abingdon Parish Register. See post f or this elsewhere on this Forum.
Wm. married 1st Eleanor; their children William, John, Richard, Edmund ( b. 1725) Crutchfield. Edmund's birth and baptism reported to be record ed at Christ Church, Middlesex Co. Va.
Wm. married 2nd Jane Stapleton Norman (widow of Thomas Norman) 9 Dec 172 8. Jane's date of death is estimated to be about 1746. Their children, Sta pleton, Mary, Henry and James Crutchfield.
Wm. is reported to have married 3rd Rachel Isbell. Their children; Geor ge (b. abt 1750), Martin, Margaret and Thomas. I have not seen the followi ng: Caroline Co. Order Book 1759-1763, page 61, "10 Nov 1757 the last wi ll and testament of William Crutchfield was presented to court by Racha el Crutchfield, executrix therein named." "Thursday 10 April 1760 An accou nt of the (adm) of the estate of William Crutchfield, Dec'd returned and a dmitted to record. Wm. also had a sister named Rachel!!! Fun isn't it?
There appears to be some connection to a family named Isbell or Isaball. 1 0-12-1750 - Richard Crutchfield & wife Catharine ack. their deed indent ed to Daniel Isaball.
Crutchfield researchers do not appear to know if George was the son of Ja ne or Rachel.
