KERNERSVILLE - Miss India Virginia Lemar, 84, tenderly known as "Granny ," died Sunday, Sept. 7, 2003, at Forsyth Medical Center.
Miss Lemar was born Feb. 5, 1919, and was a lifelong member of the Kerners ville Friends Meeting. She was a retiree of the Adams Millis Corp.
She was preceded in death by six sisters, Bell Broadstreet, Ruth Shore, Ra chel Pegram, Kathleen Martin, Vera Macey and Irene Lemar; and a brother, G eorge Lamar. Surviving are a sister, Ethel Mae Lemar; a special nephew, To dd Pegram, both of the home; and several other nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 9, in the H ayworth-Miller-Cain funeral home chapel by Pastor Jerry Gibbons and the Re v. Myron Leonhard, with burial to follow in the Mount Gur Cemetery. The fa mily will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today, Sept. 8, at the funer al home.
