Came to North Carolina in 1784; owned 200 acres in Captain Cook's Distric t, 1786. When he migrated to North Carolina, he settled south of Bunker Hi ll. He is believed to have served the seven years of the Revolutionary Wa r.
Reuben Shields married Mary Moore in Delaware and came to NC about 1784 a nd settled about three miles south of Kernersville. After the death of h is first wife, he married Elizabeth Masten Clampett.

Other Heirs: William, Benjamin, Susann ah TEAGUE, Jerusha IDOL, Elizabeth PAYNE and my granddaughter Mary IDOL, m oney from balance of my personal property when sold, divided equally.
