  It is said that he was a member of the Luthern Church for 72 years. He served as the superintendant of the Sunday School for 60 years. We are in luck! Samuel Smith married Elizabeth Broce in Mtg. Co 7/22/1824. She was the d/o John Broce (he signed in German) and surety was Jacob Smith which is possibly Samuel's father. I have been corresponding with a cuz that has this line, or part of it! I think they may have come from Rockingham Co. My Smith's did also...John Smith my gggg grandfather married Magdalene Blacker/Pleyker in Rockingham Co 7/11/1796. I don't have all the children for John...it's possible that your Samuel and my Abraham (b.1814) were brothers. Vicky Agee
