Eli died in 1839. In Court Minutes, Book A, page 428, Sept. 3, 1839, John Bradsher is appointed Administrator along with Lewis Amis (their clergyman) of the estate of Eli Stafford, dec'd. Entering into bond along with John Bradsher were Jesse Harrison & Thos. Eskridge. (Thomas Eskridge was husband to Phoebe Stafford, another daughter of Eli Stafford.) (The
brothers Thomas Eskridge & Walker Eskridge are nephews of Mary "Polly" Eskridge who married James Stafford.)
