- From Jim Bartholomew:
I have the 1900, 1905, 1920 and 1930 Census Records that you have as well as the WWI Draft Card Registration and his death date. His second wife, Mary A., died before 1920 I believe but I don't have that cataloged at the moment as I just found him within the last few days. I have nothing else on Cortez. I am interested in his wife Olive. The two divorced sometime before the 1910 Census as she is listed as Ollie Staffrd in 1910 Ramsey Co., divorced. According to the 1905 MN State Census, and Olive's death Certificate, Olive came to MN in 1901 so I suspect she married Cortez in 1901 since he was already there. The marriage certificate MAY read Cortez Stafford to Olive Thompson. This is Olive's second marriage, the first being to a William Henry Thompson, Jr. on 18 Oct 1896 in Spring Valley, Pierce Co., WI. I have not been able to locate Olive, her husband [William] or her two children in the 1900 Census. Olive's maiden name was Bartholomew and she is my second cousin, 4 times removed. The Emma Bartholomew listed in the 1905 Census is Olive's sister. Olive later married, after 1930, a William Schrapfer, both of which are buried at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis, MN
