Warren served as a Second Lieutenant and Bombardier on B-17 (#42-37927), 358th Bomber Squadron, 303rd Bomber Group, Heavy, U.S. Army Air Force during World War II.
He resided in Camden County, New Jersey prior to the war.
He enlisted in the Army Air Corps on October 27, 1942 in Nashville, Tennessee. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being employed in inter-industry metal working and also as Single, without dependents.
B-17G #42-37927 took off on their "First Mission" as a crew, with a crew of 10, from Molesworth, England on a bombing mission over Wilhelmshaven, Germany. The B-17 was last seen after leaving the target and peeling off from the formation as to penetrate the overcast ... It rolled over on its back and headed straight down ... It crashed into the North Sea and no bodies were recovered.
Warren was declared "Missing In Action" in this crash during the war.
He was awarded the Air Medal and the Purple Heart.
