Robert Stafford
Robert Stafford, 94, of Hope died at 9:40 p.m. Wednesday, March 1, 2000, at Miller's Merry Manor in Hope.
He and his brother owned and operated Stafford Grain Co. in Hope from 1934 to 1974.
He was a graduate of Hope High School, attended Wabash College and Indiana Business College and was a member of Hope United Methodist Church and Hope Masonic Lodge.
Funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at Norman Funeral Home at Hope with the Rev. David Rockhill officiating. Calling will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today and immediately before the service Saturday. Burial will be at Hope Moravian Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Hope Emergency Squad 15 or the donor's choice of charities.
Mr. Stafford was born in Lafayette Oct. 28, 1905, the son of Charles L. and Elizabeth Hutchinson Stafford. He married Georgia Tucker in 1932. She died in 1943. He married Laura Blades Lorts June 13, 1945. She survives.
Also surviving are daughters, Ann Hedrick of Hartsville and Nancy Gilliland of Nashville; a son, Carl Stafford of Lafayette; a brother, Howard Stafford of Columbus; a sister, Elizabeth Gillespie of Champaign, Ill.; granddaughters, Angela McKinney of Omaha, Neb., Andra Hedrick of Jackson, Tenn., Joy Hicks of Milwaukee, Dr. Sharon Gilliland-Sauer of Indianapolis, Beth O'Brien of Bargersville, Becky McClung of Martinsville and Cristy Coner of Trafalgar; and 16 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by sisters, Martha Clouse and Charlotte Stafford; and a brother, Dr. William Stafford.

Robert Stafford
Robert Stafford, 94, died Wednesday, March 1, 2000, at Miller's Merry Manor in Hope. He was a resident of Hope.
He was born Oct. 28, 1905, in Lafayette. His parents were Charles L. and Elizabeth (Hutchinson) Stafford. He married Georgia Tucker in 1932. She preceded him in death in 1943. He then married Laura (Blades) (Lorts) Stafford. She survives. Other survivors include a son, Carl Stafford of Lafayette; two daughters, Ann Hedrick of Hartsville and Nancy Gilliland of Nashville; a brother, Howard Stafford of Columbus; a sister, Elizabeth Gillespie of Champaign, Ill.; seven granddaughters; 16 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Martha Clouse and Charlotte Stafford, and a brother, Dr. William Stafford.
He was a graduate of Hope High School and attended Wabash College and Indiana Business College.
He and his brother, Howard Stafford, operated the family-owned Stafford Grains Co. in Hope from 1934-1974.
He was a member of Hope United Methodist Church and F&AM Lodge 150.
