640 acres of land was granted to William Stafford joining Thomas Cock in Currituck Precinct, Albemarle County, NC on February 25, 1696.
140 acres of land was granted to William Stafford joining a swamp in ye bottom of a deep point & ye mouth of the neck in Currituck Precinct, Albemarle County, NC.
William Stafford III pursued farming as an occupation, In the early 1680;s he married Jane Brown and they had eight known children: John Abt 1685, Edward, Abt 1687, William, About 1689, Samuel, Abt 1690, Ann, Frances, Mary, and Jane. By 1700 William Stafford III and Jane Brown had moved to Old Currituck County, NC where William died in 1728. To his sons, John and Edward, he left one shilling; to his son, William, he bequeathed, "the plantation where I now live."

Last Will & Testament of William Stafford
In the name of God amen the seventeenth day of February 1727, I, William Stafford of the precinct of Currituck in the county of Albemarle in the province of North Carolina whreof being very sick and weak of body but of perfect mind and memory, thanks be unto the almighty God for it, calling unto mind the mortality of my life and knowing it is appointed all men are to die, do make and -- this my last will and testament, that is to say principally and finally first of all I give and recommend my soul into the hands of God that gave it and my body I recommend to the earth to be buried in decent manner as a Christian ought to be at the discretion of my Exector, nothing doubtiing but at the general resurrection I shall receive the same again by the mighty power of God and as touching such worldly estate wherewith it hath pleased God to bless me in this life, I give, deem and dispose of the same in the following manner and form:
Item: I give to my son John Stafford one shilling of sterling money of great britian, it being his full portion, likeways, I give to my son Edward Stafford one shilling sterling money of great britian, it being his full portion
Item: I give my son William Stafford the plantation whereon I now live with three hundred and twenty acres of land thereunto belonging with three cows and calves and their female increases for ever one of the said cows called prettymaid and one witbak and one called brindey and two ewes and lambs, and two pewter vases, one dish, three plates and one iron pot holding two gallons, one pair of potracks, one -- and one chest.
Item: I give to my daughter Ann Stafford two cows and claves with their female increased for ever, on of the said cows named good luck and one pretty, two ewes and lambs, one large pewter dish, three basins, three plates, and one small dish, one new chest, one fetherbed, one rug, one blanket, one bedstead and one iron pot holding 12 gallons and one pair of potracks only the said pot not to have in her own possession during her mother s life
Item: I give to daughter Frances Stafford two cows and calves with their female increases for ever, one cow called tidy and one called brownie, two ewes and lambs, two new pewter dishes, one iron pot holding two gallons, one featherbed and one pair of blankets, one framed table, one iron spit.
Item: I give to my son Samuel Stafford three hundred acres of land - the remainder part of the tract which I gave to my son William, two cows and calves and their female increases for ever, two ewes and lambs, one iron pot holding eight gallons, two pewter dishes, one pair of ----, one new table, one couch, one chest and one pair of millstones, only reserving the ewes of the said---to my son William during his natural life
Item: I give to my daughter Mary Stafford and my daughter Jane Stafford each of them five pounds current money of North Carolina-------likeways my will and pleasure is that my son William and Samuel Stafford shall not sell nor dispose of any part or parcel of land whatsoever which I give them in this will but to descend from heir to heir for ever. My will and pleasure is that my sons shall be free at eighteen years of age and my daughters at sixteen except my wife live till the age be of
Item: I give to my well beloved wife Jane Stafford all the part of my estate both within doors and without that is not mentioned in this will to her self to freely possessed with and enjoyed to who I constitute one of my Executors joining with Phillip Northan to be whole and sole Executors to this my last will and testament, revoking and disallowing all former wills by me made as witness my hand and seal this seventeenth day of February 1727

This last will and testament of Capt. William Stafford, deceased, was provided in June Court by Mrs. Jane Stafford and Mr. Phillip Northern, Executors therein named and was proved in lawful manner the 9th day of April 1728 by the paths of Mary Johns and George Powers an was to be sent to Secty s office for probate.
