JAMES SILVEY
(1926-1995)
James Hobert Silvey, 68, of Vanceburg (Ky.) Route 1, died Thursday, Sept. 29, 1995, at a Lexington, Ky., hospital.
Born Nov. 15, 1926, in Lewis County, Ky., a son of the late Redmond Silvey and Nellie Ruark Silvey, he was a World War II Navy veteran, a retired U.S. Postal rural mail carrier for Lewis County, and a member of National Rural Letter Carrier Association and the Vanceburg United Methodist Church. He attended the Fly Branch Church of Christ.
Surviving are his wife, Audrey Joyce Stafford Silvey, whom he married Feb. 9, 1952, in Vanceburg; two sons, Anthony Silvey and James "Bub" Silvey Jr., both of Vanceburg; a daughter, Kellie Silvey of Morehead, Ky.; three sisters, Irene Dummitt and Eva Bivens, both of Vanceburg, and Esther Trout of El Paso, Texas; and a grandson.
He also was preceded in death by four brothers, Orville, Sanford, Lester and Hurley Silvey; and two sisters, Lillie Dummitt and Otta O'Neil.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at Vanceburg Untied Methodist Chruch, with the Rev. James Finch, the Rev. Allan Harman and the Rev. Julian Hammond officiating, and interment in Silvey Famiy Cemetery at Vanceburg, with military graveside rites by James L. Flannery Post American Legion of South Shore, Ky., and Disabled American Veterans Lewis County Chapter. Friends may call at Dickerson Funeral Home in Vanceburg from 5 to 9 p.m. Sunday and from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Monday.
