- Nancy Virginia Stafford Parrish, 82, of Midway died Wednesday, July 6, 2005, at Clemmons Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was born in Petersburg, Va., on Aug. 6, 1922, a daughter of the late Walter E. and Georgia James Stafford. Nancy was educated at Barium Springs Orphanage, graduating in 1940, and remained a faithful alumna. She was employed at Western Electric Co. for 25 years as an inspector until her retirement. Nancy was a member of Friedberg Moravian Church and a former member of Glenview Baptist Church. Nancy was first married to V. Chesley Pate until 1965. She later married Sidney M. Parrish, who died in 1994. From this marriage, she gained a devoted and loving stepdaughter, Judith M. Parrish, who died in 1998. She was also predeceased by a brother, Walter E. Stafford Jr., of Verdugo City, Calif. Surviving are her two sons, Chesley H. Pate of Arcadia and Stephen B. Pate (Janice) of Winston-Salem; her loving grandchildren, Kathy P. Armistead of Winston-Salem, Leigh P. Rippy of Greensboro, Brian Pate of Wilmington, Kevin Pate of Arcadia, Ashley P. Lundsford (Ernie) of Pfafftown, Shannon L. Pate of Columbus, Ohio, and Stephanie L. Pate of Winston-Salem; and three great-grandchildren, Scott Armistead and Christopher Armistead of Winston-Salem and Adam Rippy of Greensboro. Mrs. Parrish is also survived by a brother, James L. Stafford, of Belmont, Calif. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 10, at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel, with the Rev. Norwood Green officiating. Interment will follow in Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, July 9, at the funeral home.
