  Mary married John Stafford on 08 August 1822, probably in Marion County, South Carolina. Her parents are unknown at this time. She was last seen on the 01 June 1870 census living in Carroll County, Mississippi with husband John. Mary and John had at least ten children: Murdock Murphy, Edwin Neill, John C., Archibald, Murphy Duncan, Catherine, Daniel S., Mary, Malcolm & William Alexander, all born in South Carolina except the last three who were born in Mississippi. Six of their eight sons served the CSA during the Civil War. Daughter Catherine (1831-1858) married Solomon Forehand & daughter Mary Jane (1841-1909) married John Gilbert. Dates of birth, dead & marriage taken from the DAR ancestor record for Neill Stafford, Ancestor A108091, National number 722964, including the Stafford family bible. Burial location taken from the dedication by the Mississippi Society, Colonial Dames XVII Century for her brother-in-law Daniel Stafford's service in the War of 1812. The biography states that John Stafford was also buried here as well as his wife Mary, sister Katherine Stafford Young Williams and sister Nancy Stafford McAllister and husband Archibald McAllister.
