Joseph Wiggins was born around 1789 in Effingham Co ., GA, married Martha Stafford in Savannah on 05/10/1813 and they settled in Waynesville, then in Wayne County which later became part of Brantley Co , GA. They had 1 child who survived, Joseph Sinclair but took in and raised nieces and nephews, my gg grandmother, Martha among them. He also boarded Methodist ministerial students and more than one of the females living with him married a student. Martha Frances married Seaborn Greene Childs/Chiles and he served in more than 68 churches in the Georgia/Florida district mostly around the Tallahassee - Valdosta area and also up the coast around Brunswick/Savannah. I requested info from the Methodist Museum and there are several Methodist ministers named Wiggins who served in areas that could have migrated to the Jacksonville area including: James A who married Mary Murphy (1812-1882); Joseph R.B. who did serve the St. Mary's district in 1838. He lived 1819-1849. I think he may be Martha's brother because it states he was left fatherless at age 5 and was raised by an uncle, Jas. Wiggins (sic) in Waynesville, Wayne Co ., GA; Lemuel G.R (1815-1888) married 1. Susan R. Lamar & 2. Anna Biggers of Muscoge Co., GA; Robert Lemuel (1841-1914) and he was the son of the James & Mary Murphy , m1. Mary Hardee Goodbread , m2. Ann Elizabeth Pittsof Butler Co , GA and they had 3 children.
