Obituary:
James C. Stafford, 87, of St. Augustine, died Jan. 27, 2008, at his home. Mr. Stafford was a native of Ausable Forks, N.Y., moved to Cornwall, Ontario, Canada, in 1923 where he later served in the Royal Canadian Air Force from 1942-1946. Mr. Stafford moved to Potsdam, N.Y., in 1947 and began employment with the Marine Midland Bank, now called HSBC, retiring as assistant vice president in 1981. He was a member of Racket River Lodge No. 213 F&AM, serving as treasurer for 23 years and was a former member of the Riverview Club. He was a member of Memorial Presbyterian Church.
Services: A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Friday at Memorial Presbyterian Church. Officiating: The Rev. Dudley Weaver, pastor.
Survivors: His wife, Louise B. Stafford, St. Augustine; children, James R. Stafford, Laconia, N.H., Ann Marie Fogel, San Antonio, Texas, Barbara Elizabeth Tischler, Potsdam; step-children, Joyce Paciolla, Las Vegas, Nev., Linda Billings, Reading, Mass., Ellen Maher, Cumberland, Maine; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandson. Flowers are gratefully declined and those wishing may make a contribution in his memory to Community Hospice of NE Florida, 4266 Sunbeam Road, Jacksonville, FL 32257.
