- Henry also filled out the on the same application details concerning his great, great, grandfather Captain William Maner, father of John Maner who married Ruth Stafford. William Maner enlisted as a corporal December 1st 1776 and was appointed sergeant January 1st 1777 of the 4th South Carolina Artillery Regiment. He also served as a captain of a horse company from 1781 to 1782 and was paid Ninety nine pounds sterling for his services as per book p. page 192-193. Service was for the South Carolina Troops.
William Maner was also born in Wales, Great Briton, the date being December, 1755, and died in the Black Swamp SC on August 21st, 1819. William's wife was Asenatha May.
