Calvin Trenton Dorwin moved from VT to Wadsworth, Medina Co., OH in 1814 with his immediate family and his uncles Oliver and Elisha and their families. Shown in the 1830 Census as living in Greensburg, Sandusky Twp, Richland County, OH. About 1845, Calvin and his family moved to Root Twp, Adams County, IN, where he bought a farm north of Decatur. Calvin is listed as a farmer in the 1850 Census of Adams County, IN, with real estate valued at $3,500.
Followed the business of teaching and surveying in Ohio. Also held the office of Justice of the Peace. When he came to Adams Co., Indiana, he acquired 160 acres of land in Root Township, in section 21, which later became the property of Samuel D. Kunkle and then his son Calvin D. Kunkel.
Late in life, Calvin and his wife retired to Decatur, Indiana, but finally returned to the old homestead and lived with Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Kunkel until they died. "They were splendid old people of the county."
