Hi Lou,
I'm sure you're busy, but when you get a chance would you just thinkabout Granddaddy Ben and write back what you remember about him please?
My memories are his red hair, 1/2 half of his nose gone to skin cancer,he was blind, lived with Granny and Granddaddy in that back room whereshe eventually had her washer/dryer, remnants, etc. I remember he usedthat rope to guide himself to the outhouse. Also seem to remember hiswas slender, but not too tall.
Thanks so much!
I love you!! XX OO
Gloria

Subject: Granddaddy Ben Stafford
I remember how much I loved him; how it tickled me that he always
knew who was coming across the street and up the sidewalk just by
their footsteps. He seemed to be a slight, gentle man to me with
red hair and only half a nose. He always seemed happy to see me.
I know he lived and died in the little room behind what Granny
called the back porch. I was really sad when he died. He called
me Anner Girl just like Granddaddy always did. I don't know if I
really remember the rope to the outhouse or I just think I do. He
seemed content with his existence. It seemed to me Granny kept
him shut away in his room too much. Other than that I don't remember
a lot about him. He just seemed like a quiet, gentle, sweet man. I
got good vibes from him. I think he could tell if you were happy or
sad by the sound of your footsteps.
I love you too!
Lou Ann
