  Adam George Metts Adam G. Metts 1841-1926 , South Carolina Adam G. Metts enlisted in Company H, Regiment of 11th Battalion of SC in April of 1860. He served under Captain Jacob Weathers and was discharged in Durham, North Carolina at the end of the Civil War. He and his cousin William Jacob Metts moved to Berkeley County to raise cattle as there was a fence law passed in Orangeburg County. Here they could allow the cattle to graze freely. Although they engaged in various trades such as operating a saw mill, farming, and being blacksmiths, their main means of living was catlle raising. Adam was a POW in North Carolina.
