  Thomas John Watson settled on Cherrystone Creek in Pittsylvania County,Virginia. The Watson land is near the Pigg river in the northwest part of thecounty. It is still owned by the Watson family. He became Sir Thomas John Watson at the death of his father. He was known as Cherrystone John. He seems to have come to America when his father came about 1745. The 1782 tax record of Pittsylvania County, Virginia shows a ThomasWatson Jr. owning 466 acres of land. His wife, Alice Abbie Justice, may have previously been married to aHughes.
