Attended 300 hour Welding Course while in service.
He was assigned to the USS Chemung (AO-30) and saw service in the
Pacific Theater. He held the rank of Seaman 2c.
Civilian Occupation: Brakeman & Coal Miner with the Lando Coal
Company, Lando, Mingo County, W.Va.
Joseph Davis & his wife Nora (Marcum) Davis are buried in unmarked
graves in the Lenore Memorial Gardens, Lenore, Mingo County, WV.
beside their son, Joseph Davis Jr., whose grave does have a
tombstone.
