Obituary:
- Stewart E. StaffordÂ
(February 28, 1925 - April 4, 2013)
Stewart Elsworth Stafford, 88, of West Reading, passed away April 4, 2013 in ManorCare Sinking Spring.
He was the husband of Jean Ann (Guiles) Stafford, whom he married 55 years ago on June 29, 1957.
Born in Reading, he was a son of the late Clarence Clayton and Dorothy Viola (Becker) Stafford.
He was a graduate of Reading High School and Reading Business Institute.
Stewart was a photo engraver for the Reading Eagle Times for 41 years.
He was a member of St. marks United Church of Christ, Reading, where he worked part time as the sexton for over 40 years.
Stewart was also a member of the American Legion, Gregg Post #12 for 65 years and the St. John's Masonic Lodge #435, West Reading.
He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in WWII.
In addition to his wife he is survived by his three children: Keith A. Stafford, West Reading; Cindy M. Heleva, Doylestown and Stephanie L., wife of Daniel T. Gring, West Lawn. Also surviving are his siblings: Clarence Clayton Stafford, Jr., husband of June Stafford, Sinking Spring and Charles Horace, husband of Dolores M. Stafford, Wernersville. Two grandchildren: Jace Daniel Gring and Kiley Ann Gring also survive him.
Stewart was predeceased by three brothers: Richard, Kenneth and Robert.
A Memorial Service will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. in St. Marks UCC, 211 W Greenwich St., Reading, PA 19601. Burial will be in Laureldale Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St Marks UCC at the above address. Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., West Reading is in charge of arrangements.
