Belleville (KS) Telescope - 29 Aug 1974
Carl Kirkwood Boylan, a resident of the Hardy community for many years, died last August 23 at the Nuckolls county hospital in Superior, Nebr., He was 86 years, four months and 15 days of age.
He was born at What Cheer, Iowa, April 8, 1888, one of seven children of Oscar and Armina Boylan. He came to the Republic, Kansas community with his parents where he grew to manhood.
On December 30, 1908, he was united in marriage to Clara Stafford and to this union two children were born. Last December the 30th they celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary. The majority of his life was devoted to farming and masonry operations in the Republic and Hardy communities.
He united with the church at an early age and was a member of the Union Church at Hardy at the time of his death.
Surviving are his wife Clara; son, Cheslie of Republic, daughter, Mrs. Donald (Eula) Pederson of Davenport, Nebr., brothers, Roy of Englewood, Calif., David R., of Boulder, Colo., Lawrence of Santa Rosa, Calif., Orville of Henet, Calif., seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
