  He was born in Staunton, VA. Moved to Richmond about 1890 where he married his wife, Lucy Stella Snyder. He ran a successful business, Cease Bros Wine and Liquors, with his brothers, Macon and George. An old family note was found that said: Lorenzo was one of quite a few brothers in the whiskey business that covered a large area in the south including Tennessee. Enjoyed his business too much. Collapsed in the snow and died of over exposure at the age of 39. He had five children. Marvel Arlene Cease Lawson (1892-1930), Gladys E Cease Waddill (1893-1920), Lorenzo Sibert Cease (1897-1974), Logan S Cease (1899-), and Lucy Carlye Cease Miller who called herself Carl (1902-1970).
