Frank W. Heffer, 78, of 7465 N. Hayes Road, Baldwinsville, died Sunday at Crouse Irving Memorial Hospital after a long illness.
Born in Cayuga, he lived in Syracuse until 1946 before moving to Baldwinsville. He retired in 1973 from the Amtrak.
He was a member of the Seneca River Lodge 160 F&AM and of the Liverpool Order of the Eastern Star.
A musician in the Syracuse area, he started at 18 with the Walt Peet Band. His own band, the Aristocrats, performed until 1942. In later years, he played for the Jack Kreisher Band.
He also was a founding member of the Seneca River Fire Department, and was a past chief and commissioner of that department.
