Edward A. Schambs IV, 68, of Richwood died Sunday, Aug. 24, 2003, at Marion General Hospital.He had worked for The Scotts Co., the former B.F. Goodrich plant in Green Camp and retired in 1997 after 32 years of service with the Parker Hanifan Company. He was a 1954 graduate of Magnetic Springs High School and a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Richwood, the NRA, F&AM Mount Carmel Lodge 303 in Richwood, Grand Chapter of the Royal Arch Masons Marion Chapter 62,Royal and Select Masons of Ohio Marion Council 22, Knights Templar 36 of Marion, Aladdin Shrine Temple of Columbus and Marion Shrine Club. He was a life member of Raymond VFW Post 9909 and a charter member of the Union County Shrine Club. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, reading and photography.He was born Dec. 28, 1934, in Wichita Fall, Texas, to the late Edward A. and Gay J. Cramer Schambs Jr. He is survived by his wife, Lucille B. Stafford Schambs whom he married June 14, 1960, Portsmouth, Va.; a son, Edward A. (Alisa) Schambs V of Richwood; a daughter, Sheila Black of Newland, N.C.three grandchildren John and Evan Schambs and Margaret Hardin; and a sister, Mary Gay Mowery of Richwood. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at the Stofcheck Funeral Home in Richwood. Rev. Joseph Rhea will officiate and burial at the Claibourne Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home where Masonic services will be held at 7:45 p.m. Pallbearers will be Larry Leeper, Mike Martin, Joe Mowery, Jim Thompson, Tim Schambs and Gary Herd. Honorary pallbearers will be Bob Hesson and Larry Dunn.
