100561 | Mom was diagnosed with mylenoma (cancer of the blood) in February of 2 006 and started kemo therapy in March of that year. She continue on th e treatments until late October of 2006. The kemo took the strength fr om her but, tests indicated that the blood was now ok. She was not up t o par from that time on, her body being so weak and she also had lost w eight and looked very weak and fragile. Her and Dad did not even want C hristmas that year and when Rita and I went to visit on Christmas day, w e brought a small Christmas tree with us and decorations. They were bo th very surprised and pleased that we thought of them and insisted that t hey have a good Christmas. She continued to be weak into early 2007 by J une of 2007 found herself in the hospital again. After being there a f ew weeks she lost her ability to walk and they gave her a walker and ga ve her physical therapy for many other areas to include using her arms, l egs and hands. She went home just a week before Ashley's wedding to To m in late July but was unable to make the trip to attend the wedding, e ven though she wanted to be there very much since Ashley and she had be en so close over the years. Two weeks later, she went back to the hosp ital to have some follow on tests and told the doctors about her inabil ity to walk and her falling at the house. The doctors asked her to go t o the Emergency room again to be checked and they checked her into the T aunton Nursing Home located on Norton Ave in Taunton. She was in the N ursing home (although she did not like it there at all) until the secon d week in January 2008 at which time we were able to move her and Dad ( explanation for Dad in Dad notes) into the Marion Manner Nursing home o n Spring Streeet in Taunton Ma. She continued to loose strength in the T aunton Nursing home and also in the Marion Mannor. When entering the M arion Mannor, she could not feed herself or care for herself. This sit uation continued and when I went to visit her on the Sunday of the 27th o f January 2008, I guessed I would not be able to speak to her again. S o it was, as she passed on the following Wednesday evening at approxima tely 10:30 at night in her bed in the nursing home. Her calling hours w ere held at the Crapo-Hathaway funeral home in Taunton from 4 - 7PM on F riday February the 1st, and the funeral was held at the West Congregati oinal Church at 10AM Saturday morning and interment was the Westville c emetary. The family and friends met to share a meal and support at the W est Church parish hall at 11:30 Saturday. | Hobday, Nellie May (I78)

100569 | Montpilier Vermont Times Argus June 15 2006 Marie Louise "Taffy" Stafford Scarff June 14, 2006 Marie Louise "Taffy" Stafford Scarff, 86, of 200 Wake Robin Drive, Shelburne, died Monday, May 29, 2006, at her home in the Wake Robin Retirement Community after a period of declining health. Taffy was born in Philadelphia, Penn. on May 12, 1920. She attended German Town Friends, a Quaker school in Philadelphia and went on to graduate from Wellesley College in 1942 with a bachelor's degree in history. In her senior year, Taffy served as president of the Wellesley College Government. She remained a student of history her entire life as an avid reader and advocate for the importance of the historical perspective on current issues. Also in 1942, she married Donald D. Scarff, a recent graduate of Massachusetts Institute of Technology. From 1942 until 1981, Taffy and Don moved 10 times as Don's career progressed through the General Electric Company taking them on an odyssey across the nation from east coast to west coast and back again. In the midst of raising two children and constant moves, Taffy dedicated herself to civic participation wherever she lived. By the time they moved to New York City, she was able to complete her Masters in Public Administration at New York University in 1973. In Philadelphia, their next city of residence, Taffy worked with the Philadelphia City Planning Commission in the mid-1970s to develop a housing and neighborhood improvement strategy for the city. When Don retired in 1981, they moved to Manchester where Taffy continued her civic involvement, turning now from urban to rural issues. In the 1980s she participated in the Battenkill Study, a regional effort to preserve and protect the famous trout stream, which allowed her to combine her love of fly fishing with her commitment to conservation issues. In addition to continuing to enjoy their life-long love of golf, hiking, skiing, fishing and country living in general, they also spent every spring and fall on their 55-foot fishing trawler on the Chesapeake, living out their retirement dream. Taffy was predeceased by her husband, Donald, on Jan. 23, 2006. She is survived by her children: Douglas S. Scarff of Shrewsbury, Mass. and Anne W. Scarff of Bernardston, Mass.; a sister, Helen A. Stafford of Portland, Ore.; a sister-in-law Wilma Scarff of Des Plaines, Ill. and a niece, Dee Dee Langford of Lodi, Wis. A "Circle of Remembrance" will be held at the Wake Robin Community in Shelburne on Friday, June 30, 2006, at 2 p.m. in the Community Center. Memorial contributions can be made to the Wake Robin/Linden Activities Fund, 200 Wake Robin Drive, Shelburne, VT 05482. | STAFFORD, Marion Louise (I96720)

100570 | More investigation is needed to confirm that James W. Stafford is the son of Thomas and Elizabeth Hoke Stafford. -- MERGED NOTE ------------ We are NOT sure where James was born as the 1850 Census says he was born in Ia (Indiana) and the 1860 Census says Kentucky. Also James does NOT show up in the 1870 Census with Ellen and the children so he must have died sometime between 1860 and 1870. ___________________________________________________________________________________ Indiana Marriage Collection, 1800-1941 Name: James W.
