STAFFORD, Patrick Plunket Leslie (I79336)

106496 Patrick Stafford came to John Kinsley's Irish Settlement in 1846, his former home having been in Pottsville, Pennsylvania. Mr. Stafford was killed some ten years later by a falling tree, which he and others were chopping down. The death of Mr. Stafford, right in the prime of his life, was not only a serious loss to his family, but to the whole community, when so sparsely settled. In fact, it was a good fortune that more lives were not lost when felling trees, as these sturdy pioneers had no experience in this kind of work.
