militia in 1780-81 (Book "N" p. 311, Stub Entries to Indents, South
Carolina Revolutionary War claims, edited by Salley). In the same book
and page, his son Robert Stafford was paid for 181 days service in 1780-81. All paid April 7, 1785."

Screven County, Georgia, and on August 2, 1794 in Screven County, he
married Mrs. Mary Lane, widow of Thomas Lane of that county. The known
children of Joshua and Martha Stafford were:
(lists Joshua Jr. who married Margaret Ironmonger, but he was a nephew)
2. Robert (vol I) b. 1755, m. Jane Blair, dau of William.
3. Martha b. 1760, m. Henry Joyce (vol. I)
4. Ezekiel (vol 1) b. 1773, m. 1) Mary Rawls, 2) Mary Eastwood
