He was once taken a prisoner, at Holly Springs, Miss.; a parole of six months, was granted at this time, and he again fought for the "old flag". G, One Hundred and First Illinois volunteer infantry, and during the three years of conflict served his country faithfully. He was once taken a prisoner, at Holly Springs, Miss.; a parole of six months, was granted at this time, and he again fought for the "old flag". 110995 | SAMUEL JEFFERSON DENNISON son of Hetty and Samuel Dennison, was born in Baron County, Kentucky, May 11, in the year of our Lord, 1818, and died Saturday, Nov. 25, 1905, at 11:15 p.m. At the age of fifteen, in 1833, he volunteered at Nashville, Tenn., to fight the Indians of Mississippi, Tennessee and Alabama. 110996 | Samuel Livingston Smith was born at Alanthus Grove, Missouri on July 25, 1857 and passed away at his home in the south part of Hamburg on Saturday, April 27, 1940 at the age of 82 years, 9 months, and 2 days. Mr. Smith lived during his boyhood in and around his birthplace in Missouri. He was married to Samantha Jane Stafford on September 30, 1878 and to this union were born seven children, namely, Clem, who preceeded his father in death on January 29, 1939; Alva of Brownsville, California; Mrs. Hattie Finigan of Oceanlake, Oregon; Jess of Klamath Falls, Oregon; Mrs. Rose Pickett of Omaha, Nebraska; Mrs. Pearl Hurich and Mrs. Myrtle Lauritson of Hamburg. Also ten living grandchildren and twelve greatgrandchildren. Mr. Smith was a long-time resident, living in this community for 53 years and had a wide acquaintance over the country, as his work took him all over this entire section. He was an honest, hard working man and was well liked by all who knew him. Funeral services were held at the Mansfield Funderal Home on Tuesday, April 30 at 2:00pm, conducted by the Rev. D.N. Gillet. He was born on December 3, 1923 in Eau Claire, WI and was the last surviving child of John and Mable Stafford; sons, Chuck and Obert; daughters, Florence and Unice. A graduate of Eau Claire class of 1941, he enlisted in the U.S. Army/Air Corps in March 16, 1942, and was a decorated corporal in the Aleutian conflict during WWII. Our country has designated him at the veterans registry of heroes. Sam married Delores Mabiel August 2, 1945, and has five children, Steven, Sylvia {deceased] Jeffrey, Sandra, and Gregory. He is survived by his wife, Jaclyn, of Wilmington, DE; and 3 stepchildren; Jan, Deborah and Susan, and blessed with 16 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren He retired from the Baltimore & Ohio Railroad in LaPaz, IN, in 1969 and moved to Nashville, TN where he worked for the board of health and met his wife of 41 years, Jaclyn Ellis. Sam was raised up in blue 32nd degree Mason, VFW and American Legion member. his joys were recording, sound tracking and gardening and could fix anything. We will miss him and his patient well-being dearly.
