In his will, Thomas names his wife as "Jincey". I've seen this mis-transcribed "Sincey". The old handwriting is difficult to interpret. The "J", "L", and "S" look very similar, and sometimes identical. Thomas' Will named 1 son Jesse Stafford, and 1 daughter Betsey Webster. Thomas also names his grandson John who is living with him. Most of Thomas' descendants from Jesse moved to Benton Co., TN. They are on the 1850 Benton Co., TN census. Two of Jesse's sons moved to Fayette Co., TN. 112878 | Some researchers believe Elizabeth is a YOUNG as a Thomas YOUNG was living with Joseph and Elizabeth Stafford in the 1850 Census. Others believe she was a CHAFFIN. The difference in the ages of Elizabeth in the 1850 and 1860 Censuses could also indicate that Joseph had two wives. The fact that John H. Stafford listed a stepmother "Betsey" in the 1880 census lends some credence to Joseph having two wives. | STAFFORD, Joseph M. Jr. (I32281)

112898 | Something interesting about this family. The only census they appear in is the 1910; in 1920, Richard E. Stafford, age 9 is living with grandmother E(lizabeth) Ellen Stafford in Umatilla County, Oregon, suggesting that his parents might have died. There is an Opie R. Stafford who was born in Walla Walla,Washington, 07 aug 1901. HE married Blanch Baldwin, and in 1930, they were living in Jackson County, Oregon, with a son Richard born in 1927. They later moved back to Walla Walla, Washington, where the local newspaper announced his birthday for several years in a row. On 06 NOv 1946, the local paper announced that Blanch had filed for divorce against Opie. Washington Death Index, 08 Oct 1980, Walla Walla, Washington I think it highly probably that the 1910 census takers made a mistake in listing Opie as a daughter of Richard & Rebecca Stafford; I think Opie is probably their son. | STAFFORD, Opie R. (I68614)

112899 | Something must have happened to Helen before 1930, either death or possibly re-marriage as her two sons are living with relatives on the 1930 census. Norbert is in the household of Lyman Gibney, listed as nephew, age 14. Wando is with his grandparents B.W. and Detta Ramsdell, age 8, grandson. Since she is not buried with Clayton one would assume she remarried. | CALLAHAN, Helen (I100889)
