113615 | STAFFORD, Ronald Lee Jan. 27, 1911 - July 12, 2008 A Godly Man of Great Character! A Wonderful Son and Brother. A Loving Husband, Father, Grandfather and Great-Grandfather! Ronald began life in North Carolina, one of 12 children of Claude and Matilda Stafford. He married Pansy Louise McKinney on May 12, 1933. They relocated to West Virginia where he began working in the coal mines, moving up the chain of management to Foreman. Ron and Louise have one child, Margaret Alene Stafford Webb, born September 11, 1934. Margaret married Lewis McKinney Webb on August 15, 1953. Ron and Louise fell in love with Lewis as much as their daughter did. He was truly the son of their heart. The young couple moved to California to begin their lives together. It wasn't long before Ron and Louise followed the young couple west, and moved to California. At this time Ron began work in the Aerospace industry and continued until his retirement. He was a man of many passions. His commitment to the Lord was number one. His Bible was well read, often quoted, and never far from his side. His family was his first priority. He would rather be with his family, than with any one else on earth. Good humored, easy to laugh, great story/joke teller, the man everyone loved. True golf enthusiast! He got more pleasure out of playing a round of golf than should have been legal. It was a joy just to hear him tell about the time he shot his lowest score! Boy, did he love the beauty of the North Carolina Mountains. He could talk about the color of the foliage in the fall or the wild flowers in the spring and describe it in a way the picture was painted on your mind forever. At 97 years of age, Ronald, lovingly known as Papaw to his grandchildren, had lived a beautiful life but no one was prepared to let go of such an extraordinary man. When his time on earth came to an end--as a testament to his faithfulness to the Lord--while he was sleeping, it was as if the Lord just took him in his arms and he was gone. Ronald is survived by his wife, Pansy Louise Stafford; daughter and son-in-law, Margaret and Lewis Webb; grandchildren, Karen and Jeff Armour, Laura and Lewis Webb III, Jeremy Lee Webb; great-grandchildren, Amy Anne Armour, Chasen Armour, Cortland Armour, Mallory Webb, Sarah Webb, McKenzie Webb, Madison Webb; brothers, Charles Stafford and Lace Stafford. Today he is in Paradise! A Visitation will be on Tuesday, July 15, 2008 from 6:00 p.m.-9:00 p.m. at O'Connor Mortuary, 25301 Alicia Pkwy., Laguna Hills, CA. Private interment. 113639 | STAFFORD, WILLIAM (1593–1684), pamphleteer, born in Norfolk in 1593, was the son of William Stafford (1554–1612) [q. v.], by his wife Anne, daughter of Thomas Gryme of Antingham, Norfolk. He matriculated from Christ Church, Oxford, on 8 Nov. 1611, graduated B.A. on 4 July 1614, and was created M.A. on 5 March 1617–18. On the death of his uncle, Sir John Stafford, in 1624, he succeeded to the estate of Marlwood Park in Thornbury, Gloucestershire, and, according to Wood, was at one time a member of the House of Commons (perhaps he was the W.S., member for Stamford in 1661). He was the author of ‘The Reason of the War, with the Progress and Accidents thereof, written by an English Subject’ (London, 1646, 4 to). He writes as a moderate parliamentarian, and evinces great desire for peace on the basis of a constitutional monarchy. In the preface he mentions that parts of his work had been published in the previous year ‘in much imperfection and some haste.’ Wood conjectured that this treatise might be identical with a pamphlet entitled ‘An Orderly and Plaine Narration of the Beginnings and Causes of this Warre. Also a Conscientious Resolution against the Warre on the Parliament Side’ (1644, 4to). The works are, however, entirely different, and the latter publication, which was written by a staunch royalist, bitterly attacks the action of parliament. Stafford lived to a great age, and was buried at Thornbury on 4 July 1684. By his wife, Ursula Moore, he was the father of John, and the grandfather of Richard Stafford [q. v.] Dictionary of National Biography, 1885-1900, Volume 53 Stafford, William (1593-1684) by Edward Irving Carlyle The following needs verification. Gloucestershire Notes and Queries, Volume 3, Issues 25-36, Page 413 states that William Stafford was indeed married to Ursula Moore but was married to a Lucy Eyre, daughter of William, and that she bore him two sons and three daughters. It states that Ursula, whose maiden name is actually Hayward, was his second wife and they had no children. The link will be listed below. Please respond if you agree or disagree with the finding.
