He was born May 6, 1917, in Guilford County to Charlie and Lelur Pitts Sta fford. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Norma Dillon Stafford of Wi nston-Salem; his daughter, Jo Ann Peer (husband Joddy) of Charlotte; and g randdaughters Jordan Peer of San Francisco and Hadley Peer of Chapel Hi ll and fiance Edward Marshall of New York City. He is also survived by sis ters Anna Lee Reid and Francis Stafford, both of Kernersville and Dallas D uncan (husband James) of High Point. Mr. Stafford was preceded in dea th by his brothers, Ray, Hugh and Elmer Stafford. His early years were spent in Colfax. During World War II he served at t he Norfolk Naval Shipyard and then pursued a long career as president a nd owner of Dixie Welding Works Inc. in Winston-Salem with residence on Re ynolda Road. In retirement he took great pleasure in golf and travel wi th his many close friends and his wife. Professionally his operational ski lls and personal business relationships were exceptional, and away from wo rk, his circle of friends was virtually boundless. As a long-standing memb er of Morris Chapel United Methodist Church, he served with continual dedi cation in many positions and as a member of United Methodist Men's Clu b. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge/Scottish Rites at Salem Lodg e. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 25, 2001, at Morr is Chapel United Methodist Church in Walkertown with the Rev. Reece E. Co ok Jr. and the Rev. Brian M. Crady officiating. Brooks said the mother placed the baby in the crib yesterday morning, and a short time later discovered that the little girl had suffocated in the sleeping bag inside the crib. The child was rushed to a local clinic and there pronounced dead on arrival. The baby was born in Merced. 1195	OneWorldTree information gives Mary Stafford Moore's death date as 185 6. Enoch remarried and appears in the 1860 census with his second wife, K atharine. If the 1856 death date for Mary is correct, Enoch and Mary h ad two more children together. The 1860 census shows Alain, age 10, and J osephine, age 4.
