Notes for Sarah Jane Kelso
She is believed to be the first of the Kelso children born inOhio.  Tombstone information from Winterset Cemetery, Madison County,Iowa indicates Sarah Abrahams died July 11, 1884 aged 88 yrs, 1 mo. and 16 days (If this is correct, her birth date should have been 1796, not 1806 as is shownin these records).  The  Kelso family bible gives her birthdate as 25 March 1806.
Both Sarah and her husband were illiterate and signed their names with an "X".  This may account for some of the confusion around their dates of birth.
Her marriage record comes from LICKING COUNTY OHIO MARRIAGES1808-1875, p. 2, published 1984 by the Licking County Genealogical Society.
Her son, James, reports that he was the ninth of elevenc hildren.  If there was another child in this family, he/she was likely born after 1850 and died before 1860 since only ten children appear in census records.

A Brother of J. M. Stafford Falls From a Wagon at Halsey and Expires
HALSEY,OR., May 23 – A Mr. Stafford, a well known farmer residing near this city, aged 63 years, fell from a load of hay this forenoon and expired shortly afterwards.  He is a brother of J. M. Stafford, of Mohawk.
(Messengers on bicycles left this afternoon at 2 o’clock from J.M. Stafford’s home on Mohawk, 10 miles, to inform him of the sad accident)
FINALLY DIED
A.M. Stafford Died at Halsey This Morning at 6:30 O’clock
HALSEY, May 24 – The first report sent out that A. M. Stafford, a prominent farmer, living two miles east of here, died immediately was a mistake.  He lingered along until 6:30 o’clock this morning when he died.  Hon. J. M .Stafford, of Mohawk, was at his bedside when the final summons came.

A Confederate soldier.
We have found records that state he was born in Floyd County Ga. The records would have been filled out by him. The family was counted in the census of the same year in Walton county GA. We are currently researching to find which location is more accurate. There are 3 other William Smiths in Walton county on the 1840 census which may be the reason for the confusion. I will update as more information becomes available.

A George Stafford was listed as a juror in 1831 in Seneca, NY.

I am searching for information concerning George Stafford, a circuit riding Methodist minister in Ohio (Lake County, probably among other places) in the 1840's to 1860's or thereabouts. He was probably born about 1820 or earlier and married twice, firstly to a Warren and secondly to one Eliza Roe. Two of his daughters, one from each marriage, were wives to William R. Reynolds. Any info. greatly appreciated.

Thanks
