98922 Martin Luther never married. He lived for many years with his sister
Sarah (Sally) and when her son Olin married Lottie Beverly the family
lived together in Buckhannon, Upshur Co., WV until her death. He
continued to live with Olin and Lottie and their family until his death.
Luther was a gentle and kind man and is said to never speak illof anyone,
or harshly to anyone. He was not welll in his later years, and did not go
out to work, but he helped Lottie with the small children. He did
needlework as a pastime and made beautiful embroideried quilts and knitted
sweaters for tthe children. I remember him and his funeral. I remember my
cousin Delbert holding me up to his coffin and having me touch his face
with my fingers. Lona B. Emerson, a grand-neice, Researcher Uncle Luther
died of cancer. Howard Emerson was in possession of a snapshot of me, Lona
Emerson Lyon, sitting on Luther Emerson's knee in a rocking chair. It is
probably in the possesion of his son, Clarence, since Howard's death. It
is a very out'of'focus picture of and old-looking man and a baby with
curly light hair. Lona B. Emerson Lyon, Researcher
