120342 | When Bascom, Myrtle's husband, left her she had no place to live so she built a small home on Oak Ridge Road in Kernersville, NC and worked at the 5 & 10 cent Store in Kernersville. When she became too ill to work she moved in with her daughter Rose Ingram Winfree. [abt 1954-1960] Rose was divorced by this time and had to work and was unable to care for Myrtle. Myrtle then moved in with Roger Patterson Ingram in Graham, Alamance, NC (Haw River District) so that she would have someone look after her. Roger placed Myrtle in Christopher Rest Home in Burlington, Alamance Co., NC where she died soon after admission. There is intense animosity towards Kermit to this day by his surviving brother and sister because he sold Myrtle's farm and kept the proceeds and she virtually became homeless.
