Interestingly, an article entitled "Wyatt Families," which appear ed in 1901 in the William and Mary Quarterly, series 1, p. 260, shows t he John Wyatt who married Ann Jones as the son of Major William Wyat t. P. Stacy's article "Major William Wyatt of St. Stephen's," Tyler's Quar terly Magazine 26 (October 1944) 118-121, also confirms that the John Wya tt who married Ann Jones was a son of Major William Wyatt. Finally, the ex haustive and well-documented book by Michal Martin Farmer, The Genealo gy of the Webster, Martin, Dozier Staples, & Starke Families of Wilkes Co ., GA. Their Ancestors, Descendants, & Kin Braswell, Wyatt, and Martin (Wo lfe City, TX, 1994), 619-640, clearly establishes that Major William Wya tt (ca. 1627-ca.1693) was the father of the John Wyatt who married Ann Jon es. Genealogist Kyle S. VanLandingham has worked diligently at the Wyatt G enforum Message Board and at the Wyatt Rootsweb Mailing List to debunk t he myth that the John Wyatt who married Ann Jones was the son of John a nd grandson of Haute Wyatt. A careful study of the early Virginia land patents in Nugent's Cavaliers a nd Pioneers and an examination of Virginia Tax Records (Baltimore, 1983 ); Virginia Land Records (Baltimore, 1982); Virginia Marriage Records (Bal timore, 1984); Virginia Military Records (Baltimore, 1983); Dorothy Ford W ulfeck, Marriages of Some Virginia Residents, 2 vols. (Baltimore, 1986); C layton Torence, comp., Virginia Wills and Administrations 1632-1800 (Balti more, 1985) and other published sources leads to the conclusion, by proce ss of elimination and a preponderance of the evidence, that John Wyatt I I, son of John and Jane (Osborne) Wyatt, was the identical John Wyatt w ho died prior to 1715 and whose widow married William Cording of Bath Coun ty, North Carolina. John Wyatt's estate was managed by his widow's seco nd husband, William Cording, and confirms that his daughter Ann Wyatt w as in 1715, the wife of John Stafford I. See Beaufort County, NC, Real Est ate Record Book I, pp. 267-268. John Wyatt received a patent for 80 acres in Norfolk County, Virginia, Oc t. 25, 1695, for transporting two persons. | 737 | According to Kathleen Lenski, his daughter, Vladimir Lenski's birth name was Robert Saunders. He was of English origin, not Russian as the name Lenski suggests. He took that name because he thought it more appropriate for a professional violinist to have a foreign name. He went so far as to have a new birth certificate made with the Vladimir Lenski name on it. His parents disowned him because they did not think a violinist's profession was a worthy one. He was a concert violinist and teacher. He taught Charlotte Stafford for many years, who later became his wife. He was 25 years older than Charlotte, and their marriage was considered a scandal at the time. He died of a heart attack August 26, 1953 while giving a violin lesson to one of his students. Kathleen was 7 years old when he died. At the time of his death, he was survived by a son, Josef L. Lenski, 25, and a sister, Mrs. Jessielee McWhinney and two grandchildren, in addition to Charlotte, his second wife, and Kathleen. His Social Security number was 556-46-1461.
