Louise Stafford Bates has another opinion as to Samuel's orgins. She believes that he is the son of William Stafford 4th.
Thank you for your reply, Erin. Perhaps some day, I will find who the siblings of Samuel Stafford are. In the past, I have been contacted about the Stafford/Stover line and do see similiarities, but they are not ours. I am aware that some researchers have connected the two lines, but our documents and research show no connection to the Stover line. A professional genealogist in NC found church records for my Samuel and Josiah in Pasquotank that show them as residents in VA prior to moving to NC. The church records also show Josiah's wife, Sarah Ivey. This information ties in to the land and census records in NC. Josiah Stafford, son of Samuel, also participated in the Revolutionary War under Col. Shepherd of the North Carolina line.
