She was born on May 19, 1915 in Fairgrove Township, the daughter of the late James Hiel and Maude (Brownell) Stewart. She married Nolan F. Stafford on June 2, 1934 in Gilford. He predeceased her on January 19, 1976. Irene was a wonderful homemaker and a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a life long member of the Gilford United Methodist Church and the Fairgrove Senior Citizens. She enjoyed crafts, traveling, playing bingo, playing cards and spending time with her family.
