99361 Maryville Times, (Blount Co. TN) Monday, March 12, 1923:

“Obituary---Mrs. Nancy Inman Stafford was born Jan. 29, 1845, died Feb. 2nd 1923, age 78 years and 4 days. She was married to James M. Stafford, July 25th 1867. To this union were born 7 children, 4 sons and 3 daughters, all of whom are living. J.J. of Concord, Tenn.; C.M. and J.N. of Maryville, Tenn., and T.J. of Sevierville, Tenn.; Mrs. G.L. Collett of Kodak, Tenn.; Mrs. W.A. DeLozier of Maryville and Mrs. L.M. Dixon of Cleveland, Tenn., 44 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

Mrs. Stafford professed faith in Christ in early life and joined the Bethel Baptist Church, Sevier County, in which she lived a consistent member. She was seized with an affliction more than a year ago and gradually grew worse until the end came. She was patient under her great suffering, trusting in her Heavenly Father for comfort and guidance. We do not hesitate to say that the way she endured her suffering that she did show the spirit of her Master.

We shall not forget how she gave herself absolutely to her family. It is no wonder that the children rise up and call her blessed. While Mrs. Stafford was very modest, yet she was very positive in her religious life. While we lay her body in the grave to moulder back to its kindred dust, Sister Stafford’s influence still lives here while her spirit went to God who gave it and is basking in the sunlight of God’s glory. Oh! That we might live as she has, that we too may meet her beyond this veil of tears.

To the children, grandchildren and friends would say, be faithful in Him as she, and in the sweet by and by we shall clasp glad hands with her on some glad morning.

Funeral services were conducted the 2nd at the home of her daughter, Mrs. W.A. DeLozier at 2:30 o’clock at whose home she died, by Rev. C.L. Kirby of the M.E. Church and Rev. J.R. Dykes of the Baptist Church, after which the body was taken the 3rd to Sevierville and services were held in the Baptist church at 11 o’clock by Rev. Coram, pastor of the church and Rev. J.R. Dykes of Maryville, after which the remains were laid to rest in the Walnut Grove Cemetery, Sevier County.” ---A Friend.

Good to hear from you. My grandfather was Walter. I have attached the Ch
arles and Matilda family picture. According to the back of the picturefr
om left to right is Bill, Ed, Roy, Walter and Harry. My grandfather was k
now as Pap.
My dad told me a little about his uncles. He said Harry had a grocery st
ore in KC. He mentioned something about Harry and Tulsa Okla. I will ha
ve to get more details. Ed had a farm around Blue Rapids, Kansas. Your g
randfather Roy, he thought had a farm in Oregon. He mentioned that he h
ad a 12 horse combine. My grandfather was the school custodian and care t
aker in Kimball, S.D. Bill according to me dad was the oldest and he thou
ght worked in the oil fields.
I made copies of the stuff off of the website on the Foltz family and I
'm going to send it to my dad and aunt Grace. They willbe surprised to s
ee it.
Let me know if the picture doesn't open for you.I have been having so
me trouble sending attachments.
