15860 | Charles changed his last name to "Craven," taking off the "S." Years later, his son Gerald served as a Sergeant, and served in the position of Top Turret Gunner in the 359 Army Air Force Bomb Squadron, 303rd Bomb Group (Hell's Angels), and was KIA during World War II in a bombing raid over Mannheim, Germany. He was 27 years old. He left two young boys and a young wife. In 1945, the two boys stayed with Charles and Ethel for quite a along time. During most of his life, he was employed as a machinist at the Bendix Corporation. When he was 13 years old, he ran away to Toledo to stay with his aunt Mary May because he couldn't get along with his grandfather, David Marshall Cravens. David despised Mary May and would lose his temper often when she came to visit her sister at their home. Also, everyone called Charles, "Dewey." He died at 76 years old of Acute Leukemia at Lee Memorial Hospital, Dowagiac, Cass County, Michigan.   | CRAVEN, Charles Dewey (I140814)
