Conover; 1893; Mowry, Royal H., East Bloomfield, a native of Madison county, born March 12, 1823, is a son of Augustus, a son of Sylvanus, a native of Connecticut and an early settler of Madison county, where he died. Augustus was born in Connecticut in 1783, and came to Madison county when young. He married Polly Hazelton of Madison county, by whom he had seven sons and two daughters. Mr. Mowry died May 13, 1843. Royal H. was educated in the common schools, and married Polly, daughter of Joseph and Polly (Jones) Stafford, pioneers of Madison county, and to Mr. Mowry and wife were born three children: Cornelia, who married T. A. Johnson of West Bloomfield; Clinton D., born June 7, 1848, who was twice married. First to Eliza Frost, and second to Ella, daughter of Randolph McMickel, by whom he has two children: Mabel and Roy. He is a farmer, and for the last twenty-six years, has resided in East Bloomfield. The third child of subject was Alice A., who married Lorin Webster, and had one son. Mrs. Webster died in 1886. 20374 | Funeral for Mrs. A. J. Stafford Special to the Observer Wadesboro, March 18,--- The funeral services in memory of Mrs. A. J. Stafford, were held at the Methodist church yesterday afternoon at 2 o'clock, conducted by the pastor of the church, Rev. J. H. West. Mrs. Stafford died in Spartanburg, SC, Wednesday and the remains were brought here for burial in Eastview Cemetery. Mrs. Stafford was 75 years old, and was before her marriage Miss Parthenia Beverly, a sister of Mrs. J. A. Crowder of Wadesboro. Mrs. Stafford was married to Rev. A. J. Stafford a number of years during his pastorate in this city. Mr. Stafford died a two weeks ago yesterday at Spartanburg, and his remains were brought here for burial. After the services at the church, the body of Mrs. Stafford was laid away beside that of her husband in the Crowder lot at the cemetery. 20375 | Funeral services for Bobby Joe Stafford, 77, of the Fairview community of Jackson County, TN, will be held at 2 P.M. on Sunday, July 12, 2020, at Anderson - Upper Cumberland Funeral Home in Gainesboro, TN. Burial will follow in the Stafford Family Cemetery in the Fairview community of Jackson County, TN. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 4 P.M. – 8 P.M., and Sunday from 1 P.M. until time of services. He passed away on Monday, July 6, 2020, at NHC Healthcare in Cookeville, TN with his daughters by his side. He was born June 21, 1943, in Jackson County, TN, to the late Grover Cleveland Stafford and Lella Frances Scott Stafford. He was a retired machinist, and a member of the Woodmen of the World Jackson County Chapter. He was drafted into the United States Army in October of 1966, and proudly served his Country for 2 years. He was assigned to the 2nd Armored Division “Hell on Wheels”. He served 1 tour of duty in Vietnam. He was awarded The Purple Heart for injuries sustained in combat. After his service in Vietnam, he was stationed at Fort Sill, Oklahoma where he trained ROTC recruits. He was honorably discharged from the United States Army in 1968 with the rank of Sargent.
