John retired from the United States Naval Service having served during the Korean and Vietnam Eras. After his military service, John retired from the Chessie System. He was a member of the Naval Fleet Reserve, the Destroyer Escort Association, the Cresaptown United Methodist Church, and the Cresaptown Crime Watch. John is survived by his wife of 63 years, M. Stafford Jr. Mrs. Persons was formerly employed by C&P; Telephone Company as a telephone operator. She later became a homemaker. She attended Fort Hill High School and was a member of Mt. Hermon United Methodist Church, Cumberland, where she was a member of the church choir. She was also a former member of the Frostburg American Legion Auxiliary. Flo was a warm, fun loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She enjoyed life to the fullest and her greatest joy on earth was being with her family. Born on Dec. 20, 1922 in Cumberland, Wilma was the daughter of the late Adam C. Stafford and Myrtha P. (Rice) Stafford. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Ruth P. (Stafford) Snider; a brother, Floyd C. Stafford; a daughter, Gloria D. (Lantz) Crawford; and a son-in-law, David R. Brown. Wilma was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, where she was the Relief Society President, President of the Young Women's Association, and was a visiting teacher. She was a life member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the District 16 Volunteer Fire Department where she was very active, and held numerous offices. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the American Legion Post 13. Wilma was also a member of the Fort Hill Band Parents Association, and worked the concession stands and sold tickets at all sporting events for 25 years. Wilma is survived by her husband of 70 years, Donald D. Lantz; her daughters, Sandra J. Liedy and her husband Bernard, Janet K. Carder, and Donna L. Brown and her sons-in-law, Roger D.
